Depor floor Mallorca

Deportivo defeated Mallorca by a single goal on Sunday afternoon to at least temporarily pull out of the relegation zone.

The Galicians shaded a frenetic match that yielded a total of more than 30 efforts on goal between the two teams.

Bruno Gama’s solo effort proved the only chance converted in the 90 and it followed a period of sustained pressure from Depor’s opponents.

With the ball breaking at the other end of the pitch, the Portuguese cut in from the right hand side of the pitch before working the ball past two Mallorca markers back on to his favoured right foot. Edging into the penalty area, the 24-year-old unleashed a low effort just outside the box, across the goal and beyond Aouate.

The visitors pressed for a way back into the game, but ultimately could not manage it, with play becoming more and more broken up by fouls in the second half.

This result piles the pressure on Mallorca, making it five successive losses in La Primera, whilst it is just Deportivo’s second League win of the season and their first for over two months.
