Jonas apologises for Valencia spat

Striker Jonas has apologised for his actions during the La Liga game with Athletic Bilbao two weeks ago after being substituted.

The Brazilian kicked a water bottle and made an angry gesture towards the bench when he was replaced by boss Mauricio Pellegrino, yet after scoring the opening goal in the 2-0 Copa del Rey defeat of Segunda B outfit Llagostera he admitted he had been wrong.

Since then Jonas has been on the bench for the Champions League game with BATE Borisov and was left out of the League game at Real Betis, and was also handed a club fine.

“I was wrong with my gesture and with what happened,” he told assembled reporters.

“It was for tactical reasons but if I have to be on the bench, where I have been, I will show that I can still play for Valencia.

“I was wrong. I want to apologise for everything. I am still relaxed about it,” he added.
