Second operation for Trochowski

Piotr Trochowski’s efforts to return from knee surgery have been set back with the news that he requires a second surgical procedure.

The Sevilla winger went under the knife two weeks ago after scans revealed that a knee injury picked up against Barcelona was worse than originally feared, with the cartilage in the joint having been detached.

Beginning the rehabilitation process this week, Trochowski is reported as having felt pain in the leg as soon as the second session with the physios.

Tests carried out this week, including an x-ray, have revealed that the player now has a fracture of the internal cartilage connected to the tibia. This injury at the top of the shinbone is a known possible complication to the original surgery Trochoski had.

Subsequently, the 28-year-old will now face a second operation to correct the injury, which will likely increase his recovery period beyond the originally diagnosed four months.
