Jimenez sees strong Sevilla

Manolo Jimenez is not looking forward to facing former team Sevilla on Sunday lunchtime, for the strength across the park he sees.

The 48-year-old tactician spent 16 years at the club as a player and 10 years coaching the B team and senior side.

Ahead of welcoming Sevilla to La Romareda as Real Zaragoza Coach, Jimenez took time to reflect on how he sees his former team.

“We know of the difficulty in facing a great team like Sevilla, who are doing very well and who are led by Michel, who is doing a great job, they are very strong,” Jimenez began of the Andalucians, before picking out their particular strengths.

“Their right win is very strong, Navas and Cicinho are the best in European football, whilst their left is not loose either.

“They have a very defensive left wing, they are very professional and impress me with their consistency, with Fernando Navarro and ahead of him Perotti, Reyes or Del Moral.

“When I was Coach I encouraged Del Nido and Monchi to sign Negredo, when we had Luis Fabiano and Kanoute. He is an excellent striker who brings force and quality and that is a nuisance to any defence.”

Jimenez then focused on his own side, speaking of their ‘motivation’ to follow up last weekend’s win at Granada.

“We are doing well with this approach of going game by game and we will take each game as a final until the end.”
