Honours even in the Galician derby

Juan Dominguez cancelled out Mario Bermejo’s earlier effort to give Deportivo La Coruna and Celta Vigo a share of the points.

With Jose Luis Oltra's side languishing near the foot of the table, it was clear they would try and banish the memory of their recent poor form by aiming for three invaluable points in the Galician derby.

It didn't quite go to plan though, as after just eight minutes Bermejo tapped in from close-range following a lightning fast counter-attack to give Celta an early lead.

Paco Herrera's men were really turning the screw now, and could have doubled their lead, first through Gustavo Cabral and then Iago Aspas who both missed good chances.

They were made to rue those missed opportunities though, as on 29 minutes, as Dominguez fired home from inside the area after a delightful pass from Juan Carlos Valeron.

After the interval, things got even tougher for O Celtina as Gustavo Cabral was sent off for two bookable offences in five minutes.

Despite being down to 10 men, they thought they had taken the lead midway through the half only for Samuel to be given offside as he tucked his effort home.

Despite some late pressure from the home side, the match ended all-square, as both sides shared the spoils.
