Djukic denies favourites tag

Miroslav Djukic has warned his Real Valladolid side against composure in welcoming poor travellers Real Sociedad to the Jose Zorilla on Monday night.

Philippe Montanier’s team are a point and five places in the table behind Djukic’s team and are yet to pick up a point away from home.

However, for Djukic, this is no reason for his players to rest easy going into Week 9’s closing fixture.

“We do not start the favourite against any opponent. Nobody should think that it is going to be an easy match,” he warned today.

“We can lose to anyone if we are not good and we can beat anyone if we are.

“La Real are characterised by their ability to get out on the counter-attack after winning the ball. This will require much attention from us, to beat them would be very important for my players.

“Real Sociedad work very well, they have quality and great ability particularly in the wings. Perhaps they are most dangerous on the break, that’s where they kill you.”

Djukic is without Manucho, who is suspended after a harsh red card last weekend at Malaga.

“There is nothing we can do, but I do not think it was a worthy red card. Anyway, we have been working all week with Guerra in the team and he does not have to prove anything, we have full confidence in him.”
