‘The door is open’ for Simao

Espanyol Coach Mauricio Pochettino has praised Malaga and said 'the door is open' for wantaway Simao Sabrosa.

Fresh from their first League victory of the campaign – 3-2 over Rayo Vallecano last weekend – Espanyol are desperate for another at the Estadio Cornella El Prat against Malaga, who pulled off another stunning Champions League win over Milan in midweek.

“Malaga are in dazzling form in La Liga and in Europe,” the former Argentine international told a Press conference.

“They have a lot of quality in attack, good individuals and a strong defence. We must play with maximum intensity from the first minute.”

Reports emerged earlier today suggesting that Portuguese midfielder Simao was seeking a January exit having watched the last two games from the stands.

“I don't know if he will leave, I'm not inside his head. Each has to make decisions regarding their own personal situation, but he hasn't communicated anything to me.

“I've been here for four years and I always say the same thing. Whoever is not comfortable and does not want to belong to our dynamic and group discipline, the door is open.”
