Del Bosque praises ‘ethical’ Xavi & Iker

Xavi Hernandez and Iker Casillas are worthy winners of the Prince of Asturias Award, according to Spain Coach Vicente del Bosque.

The Barcelona midfielder and Real Madrid goalkeeper were presented with the honour in Oviedo today. The Prince of Asturias Awards are a yearly event designed to reward those who have made notable achievements in their field.

There are various different categories, such as art and literature. The sport category has been won in the past by Rafael Nadal and Michael Schumacher amongst others.

“It is well deserved,” Del Bosque commented at a forum in Murcia. “They deserve to win because of their ethic and personal behaviour.

Del Bosque also revealed that the duo had played a big part in defusing tension between the Barca and Real contingents in the Spanish national side.

“Fortunately we now have a healthy co-existence in La Seleccion.”
