Romaric motivated for Sevilla

Real Zaragoza midfielder Ndri Romaric says he needs no motivation for the visit of former club Sevilla on Sunday.

The Ivory Coast international spent four years at the Sanchez Pizjuan before moving to Zaragoza, and says he is looking forward to the game if he is able to force his way into Manolo Jimenez’s starting line-up after his sending off against Getafe.

“My dismissal was for a foul I didn’t intend and I arrived late for the ball,” he told Marca. “This week I’ve worked really hard but I know it’s hard to getting into the team after the victory over the Granada, but competition is always positive.

“However, I’m looking forward to the Sevilla game because it’s one that really motivates me.”

Los Manos have picked up three wins and five defeats from their eight games so far this term, but Romaric insists he does not feel under any pressure after the expectation placed on his shoulders as one of the club’s star signings of the summer.

“I arrived carrying an injury and that could happen to anyone, but what I want is to continue to improve and enjoy myself on the pitch.

“I don’t feel under pressure because the boss knows me well and is aware I haven’t been at my best physically.”

There have even been suggestions in some quarters that the 29-year-old is carrying too much weight, an accusation he denies.

“I’m not bothered about it because it’s an argument that only occurs when I’ve had a bad game. It’s come about because I’ve been injured, not because I was overweight.

“The first person to tell me if I was too fat would be the boss. He thinks about the team before any personal issues and if I had a weight problem I wouldn’t play.

“Anyway, we are placed on the scales every day and I’m at my ideal weight,” he concluded
