Former Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has delivered a stinging rebuke to current Blaugrana star Alex Song.
The two, Cameroonian international teammates, have had a difficult relationship for some time. A truce was apparently agreed for the recent African Cup of Nations qualification play-off against Cape Verde, but after losing 2-1 on aggregate, Eto'o has unloaded on his young compatriot in an interview with Canal Plus.
“There is no conflict between us,” said the Anzhi Makhachkala forward. “Because I'm among the best players in the world, and Song is not even among the best in Cameroon.”
Eto'o was the top scorer in La Liga three times during a trophy-laden spell on Barca's books. Song is still adjusting to life at Camp Nou, having often been played out of position at centre back since his summer arrival from Arsenal.
