Oltra preferred points to image

Jose Luis Oltra was left feeling ‘strange’ after seeing his Deportivo side score four at home to Barcelona and still lose.

The Galicians played out a thriller against the League leaders in front of their home crowd, but for Oltra, it was still disappointing to have lost.

“I have some strange sensations, this is a very strange result and we conceded five goals, and even though that is against Barca I am not pleased,” reflected the Coach.

“I do not remember the last time Barca conceded four. I have a feeling that the public were pleased with our team.

“In the first three plays they managed to score because they are very good and after just 15 minutes we were already at 0-3, we needed a mental strength to come back and try, as the team did.

“We rushed our decisions at the end but ended up causing problems, with Depor looking for a draw until the final whistle.”

However, Oltra would rather have had the three points than the four goals scored against the Camp Nou side.

“We managed to get Barcelona in trouble and I would have liked a better outcome and a worse image. I’ll take a lot of things from this, whilst going forward the team is very good.

“The team has competed well, we are adjusting things and there are some parallels to last season and I am convinced that the team will progress because we have the potential.

“We have to improve in all facets though. Like last year, where there was blatant improvement in the goals conceded, out there we need to start progressing again.”
