According to reports in Britain, Chelsea are preparing to fund a €60m move in January for Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao.
The Colombian striker has begun the season in a strong run of form that included a hat-trick in the UEFA Super Cup Final over the Stamford Bridge side.
The Londoners are described as long-term admirers of the forward and, following on from Jose Mourinho’s suggestion of an ‘unwritten agreement’ between Real Madrid and Atleti not to transfer Falcao, the British suggest Chelsea are in the ascendancy.
Specifically, reports over the weekend indicate that Roman Abramovich’s team are prepared to make a £46m offer during the winter transfer market, which is just under €60m. It is understood to be high enough to activate the player’s release clause and trigger negotiations.
