Casillas refutes Press claims

Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas has distanced himself from a number of reports in the Spanish Press, including that he has a poor relationship with Jose Mourinho.

The Spain international goalkeeper has been the subject of speculation this season of a difficult understanding with Mourinho, and has been accused of leaking stories to the media via his girlfriend Sara Carbonero, a television journalist.

However, the 31-year-old has responded via his official Facebook page and reiterated his commitment to his club and his colleagues.

“In recent months, unwittingly, I have been linked to several issues,” the ‘keeper posted today.

“If I have not celebrated a goal then it is because I am sad (people who know me know that if I concede a goal and I think I could have done more then I get the hump), the other day it was said that I do not support my teammate Cristiano [Ronaldo] (I’m as big a fan of his game as could be), and others have said that I am the snitch that has leaked stories.

“At this point in my sporting life and after 13 years in the biggest club in the world, these stories are misplaced. I believe I know those in the sports Press, but to say this about me, I think is opportunistic.

“Then there is another question: If Mourinho and I do not get along. If there is someone who I respect above all then it is my Coach, who has put the team on to the path of success.”
