Isco not thinking of La Roja call-up

Isco insists he is not thinking of a call-up to the senior squad despite a superb performance in the 5-0 Under-21 victory over Denmark.

The Malaga midfielder turned in an outstanding display against the Danes, even though his efforts were eclipsed by four-goal here Rodrigo, but maintains he is still taking things one step at a time in the face of calls for his promotion to Vicente del Bosque’s squad.

“I’m not thinking about the senior team because I’m taking it slowly and trying to do things right. In the future nobody knows what might happen,” he told reporters.

Although the second leg in Aarhus seems all but dead as far as Denmark are concerned, Isco says La Rojita will still be going there to win.

“It’s true we have a sizeable advantage with the five goals but we like to enjoy our football and win, so we will be going out with the same ambition – to achieve another victory.

“Tonight we came out with great intensity and it turned out pretty well right from the start. Rodrigo was really up for it and set us on the right track. He was 100 per cent effective with his four goals.

“The fans were also great the way they encouraged us and it’s good to play in front of a crowd like that,” he added.
