Torres: Mata will be back

Fernando Torres believes its only a matter of time until Chelsea teammate Juan Mata returns to the Spanish national side.

Mata is in excellent form domestically but unlike Torres, hasn't been summoned by Vicente del Bosque for La Roja's World Cup qualification double-header against Belarus and France.

“The Coach already explained the other day,” said the striker in an interview with AS. “It's sad, but at the level he is playing he doesn't have to worry. It's a matter of time until he comes back, he has a great future in La Seleccion.”

Torres is one of only two out and out centre forwards in the squad that has arrived in Minsk.

“Luckily there are many versatile players that can play many positions. We are fortunate to have more than 23 players that are qualified to come. Whether we could have brought other players is a question for the Coach.”

The former Atletico Madrid hitman will return to his old stomping ground when Spain host France at the Vicente Calderon next Tuesday.

“It's a special scenario for me. It will be my first time back there and what better way to do it than with a game for the national team and against France.”
