Nunes: Mallorca injury spree ‘unusual’

Real Mallorca captain Jose Nunes feels the club's injury crisis is attributable to nothing other than bad luck.

Javi Marquez, Antonio Lopez, Joao Victor and Nunes himself have all been struck down with long term injuries, jeopardising Los Bermellones positive start in La Liga.

“It's just bad luck, I don't think its down to other factors,” the Portuguese centre-back commented in conversation with AS.

“Although I admit its unusual that four players from the same club are seriously injured in such a short space of time. The Coach [Joaquin Caparros] has the final word on injuries, and asks players whether they are certain they're recovered or otherwise.”

Nunes spent four months on the sidelines after suffering a similar knee injury last season and the experience is helping him look at this new setback with a positive outlook.

“I'm optimistic, because that way you recover faster,” said the 35-year-old. “Negative experiences help you to cope with these situations better. I only hope to return soon to help the team.”
