Ronaldo shoulder injury fear

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a shoulder injury in the 2-2 draw with Barcelona and is expected to undergo tests.

The Portuguese international fell awkwardly in the 74th minute when attempting to perform a spectacular overhead kick and was forced to play out the remainder of the game in obvious discomfort.

“Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a sprained left shoulder. He will undergo more tests with doctors over the next few hours,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

Ronaldo, who netted both Madrid goals at the Camp Nou, entered the history books by scoring against the Catalans in six consecutive matches.

He is due to join the Portugal squad for the World Cup qualifiers with Russia on Friday and Northern Ireland four days later, but his participation could be in doubt depending on the results of the tests.
