Mancini runs rule over Falcao

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini was in Madrid on Sunday to run the rule over Radamel Falcao, according to AS.

Mancini was sat in the VIP box at the Vicente Calderon to watch Atletico Madrid beat Malaga 2-1, with the Colombian opening the scoring for Diego Simeone’s men as early as the fifth minute.

However, Atleti President Enrique Cerezo dismissed talk of a transfer to the Etihad Stadium for his star striker.

“We know Mancini was here to watch the game but we are calm regarding the issue of Falcao,” he told reporters afterwards, while even finding time to joke that ‘maybe he is looking for a house in Malaga’.

Cerezo also told Canal Plus that he was delighted with the win over one of his team’s closest rivals, one that puts them joint-top of La Liga alongside Barcelona.

“There is unity and hope in this side. We beat a great rival in the last minute so the joy is treble. It was a good game between two teams who had a lot of chances.

“With this team, these supporters, these results and a brilliant Coach we can go far, but we are only thinking of the next game against Real Sociedad,” he insisted.
