Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho has been called up as a replacement to the Spanish Under-21 squad.
Both Atletico Madrid’s Koke and Barcelona’s Cristiano Tello have been ruled out with injury for the European Championship play-off tie against Denmark, meaning Camacho [pictured, right] could be set to earn his third cap at that level.
Koke and Tello are both expected to remain with the squad in the hope they will make the return leg in Aalborg next Tuesday, with the first leg taking place this Thursday in Burgos.
The winners will automatically qualify for the finals in Israel next year, with the Spanish hoping to defend the crown they won in Denmark by beating Switzerland 2-0 in the final.
La Rojita will be hoping for better luck than they had in his summer’s London Olympics when they surprisingly crashed out of a group containing Japan, Honduras and Morocco without winning a game.
