Depor target Rayo for points

Laureano Sanabria Ruiz – Laure – is targeting an end to Deportivo’s winless run this weekend away to Rayo Vallecano.

The Galicians, who returned to La Primera last year at the first time of asking, are without a win since an opening day three points picked up at home to Osasuna.

Travelling back to Madrid for a second consecutive weekend, Laure believes he and his teammates have hope this weekend of picking up something from Vallecas.

“We are on a losing streak. There is no urgency, but it is a very important game because we play against a team of a similar level,” the defender told reporters.

“We are going to go for it. We must be very concentrated. We have to try to be ourselves, play more focused, try not to have too many mistakes, because they like to go out on the counter-attack.”

The defender, who came on at half-time for Manuel Pablo at right-back last weekend at the Santiago Bernabeu, dismissed the 5-1 thrashing by Real Madrid as not indicative of their current strengths in defence.

“I think we shown a defensive solidity that has been strong enough. Against Madrid it was a setback as we were not good, but we did not go out in that game as intended.”
