Sevilla have named Gary Medel in their squad to face Celta Vigo tomorrow, as they await the verdict of an appeal on his ban.
The Chilean was handed a two-game ban by the Competition Committee yesterday for his weekend dismissal at home to Barcelona, where he clashed with Cesc Fabregas off the ball.
However, Sevilla are appealing the decision on the grounds that the Committee acknowledged in making their decision that the player’s actions were not ‘aggressive in the strictest sense’.
With the verdict on the appeal due tomorrow, the club have provisionally named the player in their 19-man squad to travel to Celta this Friday.
Jose Antonio Reyes is also included for the first time since suffering a sprained shoulder in August and he could be in line for a start with Piotr Trochowski out injured and Ivan Rakitic also suspended for accumulating yellow cards.
Sevilla squad to face Celta Vigo: Palop, Diego Lopez, Spahic, Fernando Navarro, Fazio, Botia, Cala, Luna, Cicinho, Campana, Maduro, Medel, Hervas, Kondogbia, Jesus Navas, Reyes, Manu del Moral, Negredo, Baba
