Jimenez rues Zaragoza finishing

Manolo Jimenez has reflected that Real Zaragoza’s inability in and around the penalty area was the difference between them and Valencia today.

Saturday afternoon’s first game saw Los Che run out 2-0 winners at Mestalla, although Zaragoza played the last half an hour with an extra man after Sofiane Feghouli’s second yellow card and did register more attempts on goal.

However, it wasn’t enough, as Jimenez admitted afterwards.

“We were a team that was implicated by our lack of forcefulness inside the opponents’ penalty area and that is the most important thing to conclude,” the tactician reflected post-match.

“They’ve scored two goals from two rebounds, whilst, for their quality, they had more than one chance themselves.”

Jimenez also lamented to reporters that his side took nothing from this game despite their performance, but that his players had ‘progressed far’ and played an ‘organised game with commitment’.
