La Real suffer Bravo injury blow

Real Sociedad have been handed a blow in training today with the news that goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has suffered a fractured wrist and arm.

The Chilean international and vice-captain at the club is an influential member of the team, but now faces an unspecified spell on the sidelines.

In a brief statement released through their official website, La Real confirmed that the 29-year-old has undergone tests on his arm after hurting himself in making a save in this morning’s training session.

An X-ray has since revealed that the ‘keeper has, in twisting his arm on the field, fractured his wrist and forearm and he is now set for immediate corrective surgery this afternoon.

The first game that Bravo, who has been at Sociedad since 2006, will miss is the Basque derby against Athletic Bilbao. Curiously, Marcelo Bielsa’s side may also be fielding their reserve ‘keeper in the fixture, with doubts still raised over Gorka Iraizoz’ fitness for the game.
