Mallo pens five-year Celta extension

Celta Vigo right-back Hugo Mallo has penned a five-year contract extension that will keep him at Balaidos until June 2017.

The Spanish Under-21 international has been with the Galicians since he was a youngster and is delighted to have committed himself to Los Celestes.

“I hope to return the confidence placed in me in the best manner possible, which is out on the pitch. Hopefully I can continue to improve and show that the club is right to count on me,” Mallo told Celta’s official website.

“My great wish is to help Celta get established in La Primera, which is where we deserve to be. Today is a very happy day for me.”

Mallo first broke into the first-team squad as an 18-year-old in 2009 under former boss and current Barcelona B Coach Eusebio Sacristan, making his debut in August of the same year in a home game with Numancia.
