Celta Vigo have been dealt a blow with the news that full-back Hugo Mallo has initially been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The 21-year-old fell awkwardly when running alongside Cristiano Ronaldo during Celta’s 4-0 Copa del Rey Last 16 second leg defeat to Real Madrid.
Stretchered off, an initial scan has now been carried out and has revealed that the youngster has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Mallo is set for a long spell on the sidelines if this proves correct, with similar injuries taking at least six months to recover from.
