Lopez: Mallorca feet on ground

Real Mallorca fullback Antonio Lopez says teammate Javi Marquez needs encouragement as he tries to recover from a fractured ankle.

Midfielder Marquez could be out for as long as two months after sustaining the injury in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Valencia.

“He is a very important player for the team,” Lopez stressed in a press conference today. “Now he needs our encouragement and support.”

Lopez also looked forward to next Monday's match at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, where Mallorca will try and maintain their unbeaten La Liga start against Getafe.

“It's a rare stadium, not very crowded, but Getafe are very strong there so you have to come out focused.

“Getafe have a good team and play well.”

Joaquin Caparros' side have stunned onlookers by climbing to second in the standings but former Atletico Madrid captain Lopez refuses to get carried away.

“We must be careful not fall into a euphoric exuberance because we are second. The entire staff has worked hard since pre-season and now, with these results, we can look at more goals, but we must always keep our feet on the ground.”
