‘300 per cent for three points’

Javi Marquez admits Mallorca’s extensive winless run is causing mistakes to appear in their play, but promises three times the effort for three points.

The island outfit travel out to Levante this Sunday lunchtime without a win from the last 11 games played in all competitions.

“A win would be very important for everyone. We really want to get those three points to give us peace and our work this week has been marked in trying to achieve that goal,” Marquez told reporters in anticipation of Week 15’s trip.

“It will not be easy, but we will be at 300 per cent in order to achieve the victory that we and our fans both deserve.

“We all need it. Whilst we are still on the margins, like or not, we are all affected. The team, club and fans are all going in the same direction and a win would give us some relief.

“You always have some anxiety because the team is the first to want to win and to give victory to the fans as soon as possible, right now we are impatient with our game, leading to inaccuracies and it is true that at times it shows.”

Marquez is back in the first-team fold after two months away with injury.

“Clearly I am not at my best physically, but the important thing is to help the team. Anything to add for the team for me is enough.

“The important thing is the team and it is essential that each player is available. I’m happy to play and hopefully to continue like this, I am happy to have recovered well, I’ve no complaints and am sure that I can go further.”
