Diego Simeone has praised Thibaut Courtois for his reaction to conceding a comical goal tonight for Atletico Madrid.
The youngster allowed Alberto Bueno’s shot to squirm through his arms and into the net to turn a 2-0 scoreline into a 2-1 result for the home side.
However, Simeone has come out in full support of the Chelsea-owned ‘keeper.
“I congratulated him. Following that lapse he was able to react very well and with some worthwhile saves. I think it was the best thing about the game, what stands out the most,” declared the Coach afterwards, before talking of the game.
“In the first half we played with great intensity and pressed well and in the second half, Valladolid gained confidence with the goal they scored and moved the ball well in the midfield, forcing us back a little bit.
“Even so, during this period we had two or three clear chances to score and we could have put the game to rest.”
