Guti: I want to coach at Madrid

Former Real Madrid player Guti – real name Jose Maria Gutierrez – says he would like to coach at the club in the future.

The 35-year-old told Radio Marca that he has definitely hung up his boots after rejecting various offers from various Premier League clubs as well as one from River Plate, adding that he would like to work with the youngsters at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“I’m planning to be able to coach youth teams and I’d like to train the younger players at Real Madrid. That is my great hope,” said Guti.

“I want to teach and instil the Real Madrid values into kids, especially since I have more time now I have finished playing.”

Madrid-born Guti had a fantastic career with Los Blancos since making his debut with the club’s C team in 1994, picking up five La Liga titles, three Champions League trophies, two Intercontinental Cups, one European Super Cup, four Supercopas de Espana and a Turkish Cup.

During that time he appeared in 582 official games, 542 with Real Madrid with whom he scored 77 goals, and ended his career in Turkey with Besiktas.
