Jimenez: Osasuna game ‘for men’

Manolo Jimenez wants his players fighting and strong like weekend opponents Osasuna, in order to beat them.

This is an early-season relegation battle, with Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side visiting Zaragoza tomorrow with just a point to their name.

Jimenez’ own team have not impressed themselves this season either and the Coach is aware of the task at hand this weekend.

“This game will be for men. Osasuna are very courageous, tough, disciplined, hard-working, they are clear in how they play and dangerous in the air,” Jimenez told reporters today.

“It will be a game in which we will have to fight like them. They are a good team because they are aware of how they want to play and we must be as strong as them to play like we want to.”

The Coach admitted that Osasuna’s key strength is set-pieces, which has been brought up as a particular weakness of Zaragoza’s so far this season.

“We train and continue to look for solutions and we cannot create a psychosis. We will try to maximise our strengths and minimise our shortcomings.

“The team is eager to stop suffering. We have to produce a better performance beacuase I worry about losing games in which we have not been inferior to opponents, such as against Valladolid and Malaga, who took advantage of an error to win.

“We will try to make things better and not to make the infantile mistakes we have previously made again.”
