Winger Cristian Tello said he knows his role in Barcelona’s team after the laboured 3-2 Champions League victory over Spartak Moscow.
The 21-year-old was preferred in attack to the more experienced David Villa and Alexis Sanchez and opened the scoring on 14 minutes with a clinical finish from the edge of the box.
However, he stressed he is aware of the role he has to play in Tito Vilanova’s team.
“I am very happy with my goal and that we won the match but I’m also very conscious of the part I have to play in this team. I’m also happy with the confidence the boss has shown in me,” he told assembled reporters.
“We already knew [Spartak boss] Emery from his time at Valencia but his team played a game we were not expecting.
“I was very surprised and they made it very difficult for us, but we are delighted with Messi.
“Today he was the key and he sealed the win again.”
