Valencia striker Roberto Soldado lamented Valencia’s 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, saying his team did not play to the right standard.
Soldado was making his 100th appearance in a Valencia shirt and claimed via his Twitter account that Los Che were not at the necessary level for a competition such as the Champions League.
“Back in Valencia, with the feeling that in the first half especially we did not play well. This was the first match and we were not up to the level of this competition.
“There’s a lot to improve upon and many games left, so that’s good. Now for a rest and Sunday’s game against a strong Mallorca,” he tweeted.
Captain Soldado was largely ineffective throughout the clash at the Allianz Arena and was replaced shortly before the end by Antonio Barragan.
“Today was a special day as it was my 100th game in this shirt. Hopefully there will be hundreds more. Thanks and Amunt,” he added.
