Luka Modric said games like the 3-2 Champions League victory over Manchester City are the reason he signed for Real Madrid.
Modric came on for the final 15 minutes against the Blues, replacing Sami Khedira, but saw enough of the action to believe he made the right choice in leaving Tottenham Hotspur over the summer.
“I came to Madrid to play in matches like these,” he declared in the mixed zone after the game. “It was very emotional, almost like a final.
“It was a great occasion against a great Manchester City, who have some wonderful players. I’m very happy we won in the end.”
On a personal level, the Croatian international revealed he has enjoyed every minute since moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.
“It is even better than I expected. Everything has been incredible since I arrived. I’m loving every moment.”
Finally, he thanked the Madrid supporters for getting behind their team the whole game.
“The atmosphere was incredible and when you win like that it’s so much better.
“I want to thank the fans for their backing and we want them to carry on like that for the rest of the season.”
