Isco: ‘It was a perfect match’

Malaga playmaker Isco described his side’s 3-0 victory over Zenit St Petersburg as the perfect match on both a personal level and for the entire team.

The 20-year-old bagged a brace and was man of the match as the Costa del Sol club cruised to victory in their first ever Champions League outing at La Roselada.

“It was a perfect match, for me and all the team,” admitted the Spaniard in his post-match interview.

“We achieved this result with the hard work we do every day. The Coach gives us a lot of confidence, the team is united and this was the key to this victory.”

Issues off the field have rocked Manuel Pellegrini’s side with their Qatari owners’ management at board, but they currently sit second in La Liga and now top of Group C.

“We know that we have to go game by game, step by step. This shirt [from today] is for me – I don’t want to give it as a present!” enthused Isco.
