Dzeko: City happy not to lose

Edin Dzeko believes that Manchester City will gladly take a point away from Real Madrid tonight, who he believes will not be as poor as they were against Sevilla.

The striker is in the Spanish capital with his Manchester City teammates currently preparing for tonight’s opening fixture of Group D in the competition.

“Real is Real, one of the best clubs in the world. It will be a good game and we would be happy not to lose,” he admitted to Bosnian daily Avaz today.

“Real played poorly at the weekend, but that does not mean anything in the context of the game against us.

“Football is interesting because it is unpredictable. A team can play at its worst on one day and then in three days be at its best.

“I think that they also fear us, but that they will have a desire to win and redeem themselves for the bad start to their national championship.

“City will give it their all because every point will be of great significance.

“Last year in the Champions League we learned that any recklessness is severely punished and that we must avoid such situations again.”
