Real Valladolid Coach Miroslav Djukic has described the manner of his side's 1-0 defeat to Real Betis last night as 'very cruel.'

The newly promoted club were on course for a 0-0 draw at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla when Betis striker Ruben Castro – who had been in an offiside position moments earlier – capitalised on fumble by 'keeper Jaime Jimenez to fire in a 88th minute winner.

“It was very cruel,” Djukic sighed at a post match press conference. “We dominated the game and had chances to score. I feel sorry for the team.

“It's a bit of a joke because it was a disgraceful move. I'm sad and angry.”

The Serbian tactician is standing by Jimenez despite his blunder, and is confident Valladolid can pick theirselves up in the coming weeks.

“Jaime has enough personality to overcome this. We're a team and everyone is entitled to make mistakes.

“We know what awaits us, we must be prepared for every game. Our level of play is good, we have sufficient staff. I'm not making excuses, we are going to suffer but we are not on the wrong course.

“We are ready to mature and to face each game like a final.”
