Emery: Joy to face Barca

Spartak Moscow Coach Unai Emery has said he cannot wait to face Barcelona in the first Champions League group stage game on Wednesday.

The former Valencia boss has admitted he is looking forward to coming up against Tito Vilanova’s side at Camp Nou, and remarked on the Blaugrana's unbeaten start to La Liga season.

“It will be a joy to face Barcelona,” he told Europa Press.

“They are one of the best in the world. It will be difficult to deal with them. But there are more positives than negatives with facing them. We have to go out there and enjoy it.

“It is no surprise that Barcelona have won all four of their games,” he continued. “Real Madrid though, are the polar opposite of what I expected.

“They have started badly, but they have the potential to recover from it.”

The 40-year-old tactician concluded the interview by commenting on Jordi Alba – the full-back who played under Emery at Los Che.

“He has quickly adapted to Barcelona. He knows that place and the philosophy of play. Alba has all the qualities to be in Barcelona, and has made a great progression.

“I was lucky to have him in the first team at Valencia for three years.”
