Real Madrid defender Marcelo says Los Blancos must beat Manchester City in Tuesday’s Champions League game to recover morale.
Jose Mourinho’s team are going through a mini-crisis by their own high standards following the 1-0 defeat to Sevilla on Saturday and the Brazilian feels it is imperative Madrid get back to winning ways as soon as possible – starting with City.
“The fans are sad but we need to get our heads up because if not we will get lower and lower.
“We are having a bad spell and need to do what we have to so we improve and move forwards,” he told reporters.
“When we lose we lose together and when we win we win together but now we have to think of the Champions League.
“We know we have to win this game to boost morale and turn things around. It’s going to be important and we want to win it.”
Asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent problems with the club, Marcelo believes it is an issue that is now forgotten.
“That business is in the past. In the dressing room the only thing we are thinking of is that we are sad because we’ve lost,” he asserted.
