Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has backed Sergio Aguero to recover from injury in time to face former rivals Real Madrid this Tuesday.
The Citizens travel out to the Santiago Bernabeu this midweek for the opening clash in the Champions League group stage and Mancini has promised that his Argentine forward will be included in the squad.
The former Atletico Madrid striker injured his knee during the English champions’ match with Southampton in August, and has only just returned to full training.
“Sergio has been working all week with the team and I think he will play against Madrid,” responded the Italian tactician this weekend, after the forward missed his team’s weekend match.
Mancini had previously hinted the striker would not play should he not make an appearance against Stoke on Saturday.
