Navas sympathises with Ronaldo

Sevilla winger Jesus Navas admits he feels sympathy for Cristiano Ronaldo, after the Portuguese star said he felt ‘sad’ at Real Madrid.

“It is a personal situation and only he knows what is happening and how he feels,” said Navas, who will come up against Ronaldo when Sevilla and Madrid clash at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this evening.

“People need to calm down and show a bit of respect,” he added in an interview with the sports daily Marca.

“Sometimes people go a bit over the top when it comes to footballers’ problems, because we do have problems too.

“Nevertheless, Cristiano is at a big club who will know how to deal with such a situation and make sure everything returns to normal.”

Los Hispalenses have lost 6-2 at home to Madrid in La Liga in each of the last two seasons, and Navas acknowledged they can ill afford to concede the first goal if they want to take anything this time around.

“We need to fully focused and concentrated right from the start, play with lots of intensity and avoid any lapses,” he said.

“If they get in front we will be left with a mountain to climb so we need to make sure that doesn't happen.”
