Malaga heat will kill us says Juanlu

Levante midfielder Juanlu says the early kick-off to Saturday’s game with Malaga at La Rosaleda is a potential killer.

The game is scheduled to start at 4pm local time, a time of day when temperatures on the Costa del Sol could pass the 30 degree mark, and Malaga-born Juanlu believes the match should take place when it is much cooler.

“I don’t know who has deemed it should be played at this time but he must live in Madrid or north of there,” he told reporters.

“It’s not normal to kick-off at this time and I can’t understand it. Yes, in Coruna or Pamplona at 4pm, but I have family in Malaga and at that time we are going to die because it’s stifling.”

On the game itself, Juanlu does not believe the arrival of last-minute reinforcements to Manuel Pellegrini’s Malaga squad will give the home side the advantage.

“They still need to get used to things. It will still be the same as last year with the difference that they don’t have [Santi] Cazorla and [Jose Salomon] Rondon.
“We will go out at full strength to try and take something from there.”
