Croatia national team boss Igor Stimac believes Real Madrid supporters are going to fall in love with new signing Luka Modric.
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Modric played in Croatia’s 1-0 victory over Macedonia on Friday, but Stimac feels once he regains full fitness then Los Blancos fans are really going to see the best of him.
“Luka has no problem when he has the ball. Although he is not in top form it only shows in consecutive actions, when he runs out of his usual strength or accuracy, and he played wonderfully well,” Stimac told AS.
“He was intelligent against a team that sat back but he is a player who can play anywhere because he thinks so quickly.
“He plays so easily that way and always sees what is happening on the pitch. Luka has a fantastic future ahead of him in Spain and Real Madrid fans are going to fall in love with him.”
Stimac also spoke of Jose Mourinho, who personally attended the Macedonia game to run the rule over his new acquisition.
“I don’t know him but I am a great follower of his work and I greatly appreciate all he is doing in the football world for us coaches,” said Stimac.
“He’s a guy you have to follow for the way his teams play and I thank him for coming to Croatia to visit us.
“It was very important to Luka and it’s good for a player when he sees his Coach so solidly behind him.”
