Modric will ask to leave Madrid

Luka Modric’s time as a Real Madrid player could be coming to an end, according to radio station Onda Cero.

The Croatian has been coveted by Inter all summer, although Madrid President Florentino Perez has categorically stated he will not be leaving for one euro less than the €750m in his release clause.

However, Onda Cero claims Modric will use his planned meeting with Perez on Friday to inform him he would like to join the Serie A giants.

Inter are understood to have offered the player, 32, a four contract with a salary of €10m-a-year.

Even so, although Perez’s response is sure to be negative, having seen another of his star players in Cristiano Ronaldo depart for Juventus, Onda Cero point out that Modric would never reach the point of declaring himself ‘in rebellion’ with the club.

Modric reportedly has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Florentino Perez that he can leave Madrid when he wishes, while Inter are said to have tabled a €15m loan bid before a further €25m in a permanent deal.
