‘Ronaldo and Messi are legends’

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has praised Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, calling the pair 'fantastic for football'.

The 76-year-old was moved to congratulate the La Liga duo, but also took time to comment on Jose Mourinho and the financial imbalance in Spanish football.

“Messi or Cristiano? Both. They are different but both fantastic for football,” he told Marca. “Cristiano wants to be a general on the field. Messi on the other hand, is like a magician.

“They are living legends of football.

“Mourinho is one of the giants of football. It is good for the sport to have people like him, Ferguson, Wenger and Guardiola. Each have their own personality and charisma.

“The economic imbalance is something we have talked about. There is a total imbalance. This topic though, is for UEFA. Platini is working hard with the Financial Fair Play.”

The Switzerland-born administrator then concluded the interview by giving his opinion on who the best player of all-time is.

“Alfredo di Stefano is the best. When I coached a small amateur club in Switzerland, I changed our strip to all-white because of Di Stefano and Real Madrid.”
