Spain Under-21 boss Julen Lopetegui said he was satisfied with his players despite the goalless draw with Switzerland.
The result means Spain are now through to the play-offs for next summer’s European Championships after Lopetegui’s team kept their unbeaten record in Group Five’
“We went into the game with determination and were not thinking about the draw,” said Lopetegui, who was making his debut as La Rojita Coach after the dismissal of Luis Milla following the poor showing at the London Olympics.
“We had some clear opportunities but failed to take advantage. What I liked about the team was that we were intense and organised against opponents who sat back.
“The important thing was to create chances, but they come when you least expect them,” he added.
