City offered €200m for Ronaldo

Manchester City are ready to make Cristiano Ronaldo the world's best-paid footballer, by offering the Portuguese superstar €20m per season in January, according to AS.

The English champions reportedly had a bid of €200m for the Real Madrid man rejected this summer, but City owner Sheikh Mansour is determined to see the record-breaking goalscorer at the Etihad Stadium, and is expected to make another bid in January.

Ronaldo stated last Sunday that he was 'sad and the club know why', with speculation mounting about his future at the club.

Some reports have indicated that he is unhappy with the way Los Blancos have treated his best friend at the club, Kaka. Whilst other reports suggest that the 27-year-old is just playing hardball on a new contract.

Real Madrid will face Man City in the Champions League this autumn, with Roberto Mancini's side travelling to Bernabeu on September 18, with the return fixture on November 21.
