Depor tie up Tiago Pinto deal

Deportivo de La Coruna have confirmed they have tied up a deal to bring Portuguese right-back Tiago Pinto to Riazor.

The 24-year-old, son of former Portuguese international Joao Pinto, joins the Galicians on a one-year loan deal from Rio Ave and feels he has taken a giant step forward in his career.

“I have come to a very big club from a team with different aspirations. I saw Depor play Getafe at the weekend and the supporters were incredible,” he declared at his official presentation.

“It is an important step for me to come to a club as big as this in such a great League and I want to work to reach a very high level. I hope I get the chance to give everything on the pitch.”

Pinto will feel at home in north-west Spain as he becomes the eighth Portuguese member of Jose Luis Oltra’s squad, although he admits he does not know them all.

“Depor is a club very much loved in Portugal. I don’t know all the others apart from Bruno [Gama] from our time at Rio Ave, but I think it will be very easy for me to adapt.

“I hope I’m here for a number of years,” he added.
