Sergio Aguero says he wants victory over Real Madrid when he plays against them for Manchester City in the Champions League.

The former Atletico Madrid man is currently sidelined after suffering a knee injury in the opening day victory over Southampton, although he has still linked up with the Argentine national squad for the World Cup qualifiers with Paraguay and Peru.

However, he claimed in an interview with AS on arrival in Buenos Aires that he is hoping to be fit and is looking forward to the first-leg clash at the Santiago Bernabeu on September 18.

“Right now Real Madrid are one of the best teams in the world. We are aware it will be very difficult but it will also be beautiful.

“We are in a group with Madrid, Ajax and [Borussia] Dortmund, one of great quality and a high level. They are all great sides so it will be tough for everybody.

“However, we are really motivated to be facing these teams and these players, particularly the games with Real Madrid.

“I never managed to beat them when I was with Atleti and I hope I can do that with City,” he declared.
