New Real Zaragoza defender Cristian Sapunaru has claimed he wants to become an 'important member of the team' after joining the Blanquillos.
The Romania international was a free agent after his contract ran down at Porto, and was in a buoyant mood when officially presented as a Zaragoza player.
“I hope to have a good season,” he told a press conference. “I have come to a very strong, well known, very large team, and I hope to play some good football.
“I want to become an important part of the team.”
The 28-year-old has signed a one-year contract, with the option of a further two years should he impress at La Romareda.
The versatile defender, who can play at right-back or centre-back, has played nine times for the Romanian national team and will wear the number 19 shirt.
