Futre: Ronaldo not being backed by Madrid

Former Portugal winger Paulo Futre has weighed in on the Cristiano Ronaldo issue, claiming that the Madrid man 'does not have the full backing of the club'.

The 27-year-old forward has stated he is disillusioned at the Spanish champions, but the one-time Atletico Madrid and West Ham man has rubbished rumours that his countryman is putting this in the public domain so as to force Los Blancos into offering him an improved contract.

“I read the newspapers and listened to radio stations in Madrid this morning,” he told Portuguese daily A Bola. “And they say that Cristiano is doing this only to renew his contract and make more money. I do not. The problem with Ronaldo is that he does not feel Real Madrid has his full backing”.

Ronaldo scored twice as Real Madrid defeated Granada 3-0 on Sunday night, before immediately issuing a statement saying “I am unhappy and the club know why”. Reports surfacing today have suggested that Paris Saint-Germain and Anzhi are looking to offer the record-breaking forward a way out of the capital club.
